Default How do you sharpen your knives?

Since a good sharp knife is one of the most important things to have in your kitchen... how do you keep your knife sharp? How do you sharpen them once they are dull?

Do you use one of those gadgets they sell? Do you take it into a cooking store to get it professionally sharpened? Some other technique?

I have a couple of gadgets that I use and they work well. I also have a steel, but don't use it anymore. I'll see if I can find a photo of my favorite gadget for sharpening.

We have an electric Master Chef knife sharpener that actually works quite well!

We have a kitchen store in the mall and whenever I think one of the knives needs to be sharpen, I take it (or them) there. They are very resonable.

I have a Lansky Sharpening System, a bit clumsy to use if you ask me. I have taught myself to use stones and a leather strop to deburr. I steel my blade just before each and every use. I am a believer in steels. However I do understand that to many people sharpening knives is best left to others.

When we got married, we got as a present a Chicago Cutlery knife set that included a sharpener (not sure what the exact name of it is called).
