Default Japanese soup question

Have you ever been to a Japaneses restaurant where they serve a hot, clear soup (kind of like a thin broth) with mushrooms and chives? Does anyone know what that's called or how to make it?

Thanks!

Hrmm, not sure. Do you think it's a chicken or fish broth?

My first guess would be chicken, but it doesn't have a very strong chicken flavor. It's very light.
