My worst customer service experience happened in Asia. I was in a former Soviet country in Central Asia for a year doing volunteer work.
Maybe it's a holdover from Soviet times, but people there do not know what customer service is. I don't mean that to sound bad, just factual. They don't have any concept of it. If you want something (including your check) you have to get up and go find a waitress, or flag one down if they happen to be passing in visual range. We got used to it by the end of the year, but we had a 24-hour layover in London on the way home, and it felt so good to go to a restaurant and have someone actually come to our table and ask us if we needed anything! |
