Default Jackpot! You won the lottery, what do you do?

Buying those lucky numbers finally pay off and you hit the mother of jackpots. A cool $450 mill AFTER taxes liquid is sitting in your bank account. QUICK! What arrangements do make in the first 24 hours?

Here's mine:

Put house on market, hire Realtor to find my dream property
Hire someone to handle all communication for me so I can dissapear for a few days (you know those family members won't wait long to hit you up once they hear about your dumb luck)
Find somewhere luxurious with GREAT FOOD to jet off to with DH

You're back from the whirlwind, and the reality of your situation sets in. You don't ever have to worry again. What charitable causes do you take up?

Me:
Animal Welfare

If it's the time of year for a world cruise i'll book that right away if not, a few back to back cruises to keep me going for quite awhile, the room will be a suite with a Butler.

Then when I return I'll donate to the Cancer society to help find a cure.

I'll pay off this house, rent it, and buy a dream house. Next I'll invest some of the money and use some to travel.

$450 mil? I couldn't blow through that in a lifetime. But I know where I'd start

I'd build a house for everyone in my family, including myself. Mine would have a library in it, just because that's something I've always wanted, and I would buy any book I wanted whenever I wanted.

While construction was underway I would take us all on vacation. We'd make a world tour, hitting all the places we've always wanted to go: the British Isles, the Alps, Australia, New Zealand, Tahiti, Thailand, and wherever else we decided to go.

After that it would be pretty boring, though. I'd settle in with my house and my books. But I think I'd also spend a lot of my time doing all the volunteer work I wish I could do, but can't because I'm too busy working. I'd probably donate a lot of it, because once the essentials are met (I've got a house and enough to live on) I don't need millions just sitting in the bank.

I agree with the library and the books!
I certainly would travel more and I would ALWAYS fly 1st class or charter my own jet!!

Besides investing, we would definitely take a World Cruise -- and it would be in the Owner's Suite!!
