Unhappy Low Carb diet

Hello everyone, my first post here I have a problem. My hubby is trying so hard to loose weight, he is about 270 lbs, and is 5 8, little round guy and I love him. We are in our 60s now and very active, we walk and travel a lot.
I am by no means thin im a chunkyto. We need help. Hubby is a BIG eater, no matter what he eats.... that is why he is low carb diet. He can eat a lot at one sitting. But he is not loosing weight. and get discouraged easy. so here is what I need. Recipes that he can eat a lot of. I make salads but that gets old, Things when we eat out that he can eat.... Is there any help for him. I am thinking he is eating to much cheese, he eats it for a snack, and in salads ect. but he thinks dont matter low in carbs. If he continues I think this is not healthy for him either. so maybe another type of diet would be good for him. Any recipes or suggestion would be helpful. Please help.

Default Low Carb Diet (not really, but might be helpful)

Hi - this is a belated reply. But just noticed your post. And this isn't really a low carb reply, but -

My hubby asked for help from me to lose weight as we are both chubby (very). We found a book at the thrift store - South Beach Diet. Hated the Phase 1 part - but it did work. I went online and got the instructions. Couldn't have fruit which I hated and actually hating Phase 1 is helping us stay on Phase 2.

Basically, now we keep away from sugar, white potatoes and white flour (the potatoes and white flour apparently convert to sugar quickly in the body). Have found a place to buy no sugar and fat free yogurt for snacks (and no sugar Fudgesicles). I also found lower fat Alpine Lace cheese is good and my hubby likes the mozzarella sticks. I bake sweet potatoes and really don't miss the potatoes - although I had a couple of fries the other day before passing them on to a non dieter. And I like whole grain bread. We've lost about 30 lbs. each - very slowly and find that it's not too bad sticking to the diet. (Also found some no sugar added candy. But watch that the calorie count is low on these things as no sugar or low fat doesn't always mean low calorie.)

Tonight we're having spaghetti with whole wheat pasta (I like the Golden Grain brand best.). Oh, and my hubby is a big eater, so I portion out the food and he likes that. He also likes oatmeal or multi grain cereal for breakfast (not instant oatmeal) and adds a small spoon of peanut butter to it (which is allowed on Phase 2 of South Beach. Good luck.
