Fruit Filled Watermelon Fruit Filled Watermelon In order for the watermelon to sit properly, cut a thin slice horizontally from the bottom -- do not cut into pink meat of the melon. To make the melon pretty -- cut a zig-zag pattern along the edge. You will need to scoop out the fruit to form a bowl -- use a melon ball scooper so as to not waste a lot of the fruit. Fill the bowl with balls of watermelon, honeydew, canteloupe and pineapple chunks, strawberries, blueberries and any other fruits that you like or are in season. Pour a sauce of your choosing as use this one: Mix 2 tablespoons each strained lemon juice, lime juice and orange juice with 1/3 cup water and 2/3 cup sugar. Carefully toss the fruit in the melon bowl. I prefer to mix everything in a large bowl -- add the sauce and stir gently and then pour the fruit into the melon bowl. You can garnish the top with toasted coconut flakes. |
